All vehicle rentals at Car Hire in Ormskirk are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement issued upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Ormskirk, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the type of vehicle, and drivers under 25 may incur extra charges. A valid, full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Ormskirk office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damages. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed at the time of pick-up. It is required that you return the vehicle in a comparable condition to when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you foresee a delay in returning the vehicle, contact us without delay, as late returns may incur extra charges. You will be held responsible for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges accrued during your rental, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. The specifics of coverage and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further coverage is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the booking type and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous activities. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle is not to be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Operating the vehicle outside of the agreed geographical areas without proper approval is also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Ormskirk will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not surpass the total rental amount paid in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Local Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
